Alvaro Fernandez Galiana
Mechanical Engineer
I grew up in Barcelona, Spain, where I got my Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Later on, I moved to Toulouse to study aerospace engineering. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at the LIGO laboratory building precision engineering systems for gravitational wave detectors.

Phil is a member of the Cambridge Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and is working to start an accessibility-focused makerspace, RiseUp. He is a paralytic polio survivor and would like to create products that can positively affect the lives of people that face disabilities.

Biomedical Engineer
I'm a Research Affiliate at the Institute for Medical Engineering & Science at the MIT, mainly studying cardiovascular diseases and clotting phenomena. Before starting this adventure I studied Industrial Engineering in in both Spain and Germany. I'm specialized in biomechanics, but I love every engineering branch as much!

Operations Researcher
I am a doctoral candidate at the Operations Research Center working on Machine Learning methods to create accurate and actionable personalized medicine models. Prior to joining MIT, I worked as a consultant at Athens where I also earned my BS in Management Science and Technology.
